AMTRAK HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO HOST 9TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Chicago (22 November 2002) – The Amtrak Historical Society will host its 9th annual conference on May 2 and 3, 2003 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The meeting will highlight people, trains and railroad operations in the upper midwest.

The conference and activities will open at noon on Friday, May 2nd, at the Ramada Plaza in Green Bay. Friday evening activities include slide presentations and an open forum.

Saturday, May 3rd, will include a tour and lunch at the National Railroad Museum, home of the Rock Island Aerotrain #2, Union Pacific dome diner #8003, Dwight D. Eisenhower's WWII staff train, and other historically significant pieces of railroad equipment. The evening will include a banquet followed by an Amtrak presentation and AHS Associate slide presentations.

The conference will conclude on Sunday, May 4th, as attendees depart for their respective destinations. Due to the nature of railroad operations, speakers are pending confirmation and may be subject to change.

A block of rooms is being held at the Ramada Plaza in Green Bay. The rate is $89 / night + tax. Room reservations must be made by Friday, March 22, 2003, by calling the hotel directly at 1-800-228-3344 and mentioning The Amtrak Historical Society conference confirmation # 74304047.

Cost for the entire weekend activities, excluding hotel, is: $95 for AHS Associates; $100 for non-Associates ($5 of which will be applied to becoming an active AHS Associate).
